Finding Your Wisdom Voice

Based on “The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran

Welcome

Welcome to this virtual Wisdom program which utilizes, “The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran as a launching point. Written in 1923 and since translated into more than one hundred different languages, “The Prophet” is a book that many of us grew up with. This retreat will consist of approximately 20 recordings of “The Prophet” along with commentary and questions. Along with a foundation of suggested spiritual practices, participants will have the opportunity to ponder on these teachings and the chance to respond in writing. I will be gathering and organizing these responses and sharing them selectively with the group. In this way, we will be forming and expressing our own Wisdom Voice.

Components

There will be three basic components to this program:

  1. All twenty recordings will be available retreat page. They include a full reading of “The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran, some inserted Wisdom commentary, and reflection questions. Each recording will be about 30 minutes long. Although two recordings will be posted each week starting the week of September 21, you are encouraged to move through them at your own speed. Your listening will be enhanced by using headphones.

  2. Participants are encouraged to send to me their responses to the reflection questions. After reading them, I will gather and assemble them in order to share them selectively and anonymously with all of the participants.

  3. There will be two scheduled Zoom gatherings on Fridays each week, starting September 25 and continuing through November 20. They will be held at 9 am and 3 pm (Eastern) every Friday. These one-hour gatherings will give participants the opportunity to share reflections and conversation together. Completely optional, these are opportunities to process and integrate the material as well as to connect with other Wisdom students.
